Sunwing is pleased to announce that it will be providing a new flight service from Saguenay to Roatan this winter. As the #1 to the sun and the exclusive leisure carrier out of the Saguenay-Bagotville Airport for over a decade, the tour operator is the first to offer a service to Roatan from the regional airport, making it the seventh destination offered for the winter of 2018. Beginning December 18, 2017 and running weekly until April 16th, 2018, travellers can look forward to convenient Monday direct flights to the popular Honduras vacation destination, known for its perennially warm climate and excellent diving conditions.

The largest of the Honduran Bay islands is also home to the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, the second-largest barrier reef in the world. It’s truly an ecological playground, where avid divers can discover vibrant and colouful corals, multi-coloured tropical fishes, sponges as big as refrigerators, and other species such as manta rays, sea turtles, and whale sharks. Deep-sea divers will also enjoy great visibility of up to 150ft, especially in areas like El Aguila, a popular wreck diving site.

Sam Char, Executive Vice-President of Sunwing Travel Group, welcomed the news, “We are looking forward to continuing our long-standing partnership with the Saguenay-Bagotville Airport for a 12th season this winter. Since our first flight in 2006, we have been providing residents of the Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean region convenient options for escaping the cold Canadian winters, so we’re quite excited to be adding Roatan to this roster of top vacation destinations to get away to.”

“Promotion Saguenay strongly supports Sunwing's decision to offer a new sunny destination from the Saguenay-Bagotville Airport.  The island of Roatán in Honduras will enhance the vacation package destinations already offered starting in December, 2017. Sunwing has once more confirmed its exceptional and unique partnership, ongoing for over 10 years now, with the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region with this announcement and which maintains the Saguenay-Bagotville Airport as the most active regional airport in Canada in terms of flights to southern destinations,” said Jean Tremblay, President of Promotion Saguenay and mayor of Saguenay.
